AC James
AC James - grew up in a small town in southern Ontario, Canada - where he had the opportunity to connect to music that was normally not heard on the radio or television.
Growing up in the church and around fellow believers in the Lord Jesus Christ - he became a devout follower of the faith at a very young age. Listening and signing hymns in church and going home and being exposed to electronic music (mostly without lyrics). At the young age of 9 years old, Alex discovered a radio station that struck an immediate interest. Not long after, he began recording electronic music off the late night radio station which was known as NRG 108 (at that time) : onto tape decks, while playing with legos. And would study the music during the late hours of the evening and on weekends, where genres such as House, and Early Techno would get a tiny bit of air time.
In 2005, he acquired his first set of turntables a pair of stanton's with a basic mixer, mostly playing for neighbors and friends. The Downtown area of St Catharines, and Port Dalhousie known for playing mostly top 40 hits off the radio, because it drew in large audiences - had Alex brainstorming a new plan - as he refused to join the mainstream outlet because everyone else was "doing it". Although, one bar once known as ON 81 had a Guest DJ appear once in a while - DJ Stephano, that finally played music similar to what Alex had heard at home, such as Deep House and Progressive Tribal House - similar to Steve Lawler's older sets. Noticed the crowd that Stephano drew in were people who personally enjoyed his music selection. Complementing Stephano later on at a Club in Niagara Falls, Ontario - gave hope that it can be done, as his main goal was to play what he wanted to play with a few exceptions. This is when he discovered music production and has found alot more options to work with.
Like finding the latest gold mine, he found many artists that related to his childhood past, mostly from Europe, but some from the US. Artists like Terry Lee Brown Jr, Timewriter and Ian Pooley along with Mark Farina were highly influential in his life.
In late 09, Alex at this point considered himself thankful for not giving up hope in looking for talented producers and more unique techno - discovered more talented artists such as : Sven Weismann, Quantec, Organon and Marko Furstenberg. This just added more to his repertoire and could ultimately now expand on what he had learned from years past. Other artists that had huge influences that were from secondary genres that got taken into account were : LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad who popularized Drum and Bass, and were passionate about their music. That struck a chord within Alex and he was determined to make the music and perform it like these artists did - no matter what the local or geographical barriers that were in place. Reuniting with God, and Church in 2010 - Alex is now dedicating his life and music back to Him. Relying on only being inspired by God to help him make the best DJ mixes he can possibly make. The hope one day for Alex is to perform in a Christian Environment and show that this music doesn't always have to be heard at a bar or a club.
The style and selection is based off life experience and discipline of faith. From Early Century Hymns to DNB/Techno- you will find that the music on this site is really a journey of Alex's life.
